Lincolnshire Authors Autumn Book Fair 4th September 2021

Well! The first ever Lincolnshire Authors live book fair at The Louth Meridian Leisure Centre turned out to be a brilliant day. The footfall was a steady flow throughout the day. It wasn’t as high as we expected, even though a huge amount of marketing was undertaken in the months leading up to it. We have taken from that though, that we need to do more in terms of leaflet handouts, both in the days leading up to, in and around the town and on the day, outside of each venue.

None of that really mattered as the authors networked, got to know each other and shared their journeys, as well as talking and interacting with visitors.

Many books were purchased, free pens, bookmarks and paraphernalia were given away. Ruchita Green provided tasters of her amazing bites.

A beautiful dragon named Sapphire graced us with her presence, she was very well behaved, although, she did try to eat my ‘gifted’ chocolate brownie at one point! She amplified the high energy throughout the fair, bringing with her, laughter and a tad of nervous tension as she roared her way around, checking in to meet the authors and many of the visitors, especially the little ones. She was well received by all who met her.

Because she was so popular, Sapphire will be back with us in October with two of her friends, Peppermint and Scorcher. So, if you are thinking of coming along, bring your little ones to meet some of our children’s authors, purchase their amazing books and meet the dragons. There will be plenty of photo opportunities and making of memories for everyone else too. A huge thank you to Andy Hutchinson and his team from Meet Pete Dinosaur Hire for giving us his time and energy on the day.

Steph from Sparks Photography was on hand for most of the day to capture some of the best moments and memories. Little did she know that she too, was captured from behind!

Greeting cards specifically for book lovers were on sale from the steward’s stand.

Our two very friendly and approachable stewards, Megs and Lisa did an amazing job at keeping everyone happy. Making sure that all their needs were met, including assisting the authors with setting and packing up.

Lisa and Megs will be joining us at both the Winter Book Fair on Sunday October 17th at the Skegness Embassy Theatre and the Christmas Book Fair on Sunday November 28th at the Louth Riverhead Theatre.

We had many different genres attending, such as horror fiction, dystopian fiction, historic and erotic romance fiction, inspirational and uplifting poetry, short stories, children’s stories, crime fiction, fantasy and paranormal, non-fiction, self-help and much more. There really was something for everyone.

Some great feedback has already been received from visitors and authors alike.

Love the fact that Seb is in the background of this photo, in hysterics over his sister’s imminent demise. Had a great day at the Lincolnshire Authors Autumn Fair today. Many thanks to all those involved in organising it.

Minding my own business at the Lincolnshire Authors Book Fair in Louth, and just like ‘Donkey’ in Shrek, met and fall in love with a Dragon!! So many thanks to the lovely people who attended Louth’s Meridian Centre for the first Lincolnshire Authors Book Fair. Great Authors with Amazing books. Thanks also to those that purchased The Viking Way ‘A Walk for Denver’. All proceeds will be transferred over to The Labrador Lifeline Trust shortly. Looking forward to the next event in October at The Embassy Centre in Skegness.

It was well organised with so many lovely people. It felt great to attend the first Lincolnshire Book Fair and represent our Authors. Everyone was of like-mind and so supportive, it really was the local book community starting to get together.

Lincolnshire Authors Autumn Book Fair 4th September 2021
Having had to cancel this event numerous times over the last twelve months due to the pandemic, it was truly beautiful to see it working out so well. Here’s hoping that we can do this again and again across Lincolnshire and we look forward to seeing everyone ‘Upstairs at the Embassy’ on Sunday, September 17th October 2021, at the Skegness Embassy Theatre.
